RUSSELL SLADE believes his team are well prepared to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to Bournemouth when they take on Hartlepool on Tuesday night.
The O’s boss has had his players hard at work on the training ground to make them more of a threat going forwards and he expects to see that in evidence against Pools.
“We’ve worked very hard on Monday,” said the manager. “There’s not a lot of time obviously to prepare for the game but we’ve done what we possibly could.
“There’s always a good response from this group of players. We just need them to take one or two things on board, particularly going forward.
“We were pretty pleased with the defensive work [on Saturday] and over the 11 games we’ve defended pretty well by and large.
“The focus has been on what we do when we’ve got the ball.”
Hartlepool have gone nine games without a win and Slade is keen for his side to extend that run.
This match marks the O’s game in hand on the rest of League 1 and for that reason he sees the clash as a big opportunity.
He added: “It’s a chance to move up and we know it’s an important game for both sides. They’ll be desperate for a win and Neale [Cooper, Hartlepool boss] will have them focused and wanting to win a football match.
“It’s another game and it’s another game we want to win. We want a strong performance from us – we’ve lost our last two League games and we need to put that right.”
