RUSSELL SLADE was delighted with how his O’s side bounced back from defeat to Bournemouth by beating Hartlepool 1-0 on Tuesday night.
Ryan Brunt scored the decisive goal but in truth Orient’s performance was more commanding than that and Slade was happy from first whistle to last.
“It was the perfect response,” he said. “We’d lost two tough games, so to win tonight, our little game in hand was great.
“I know it was 1-0, but it was a comfortable victory. We set our stall out early in the game and made a really good start.
“We could have gone one up but the referee missed a penalty, and there were a couple of chances in that first half.
“We had the opportunities to open the door earlier than we did but it was pleasing to get the goal just after half time.
“If I’m getting that kind of performance week in, week out then we’re not going to be too far away.”
Slade gave youngster Moses Odubajo an opportunity from the start and the gaffer was pleased to see the winger step up to the plate.
He added: “Mo’s had a couple of appearances as a sub, but I thought he was ready to be let go [from the start] tonight.
“He’s looked well in training and we trusted him out there. He got off to a really good start and kept that going – a terrific performance.
“His cross for the goal was great, both he and Coxy were putting in some great balls.”
