ORIENT finally reach the end of a manically hectic October with a game against Coventry City at Brisbane Road on Saturday.
It marks the eighth match of the month and Slade wants to end it with a bang.
The build up of Saturday-Tuesday fixtures hasn’t been met with consistent form from the O’s but the manager is keen to bounce back against the Sky Blues.
He said: “The biggest effect of the congested fixture list is that there is a lack of recovery time for the players and a lack of preparation time for us as the matches just keep coming.
“There’s no doubt that we will have played more than most other clubs in this month given the fact that we have had a re-arranged game against Hartlepool United plus our involvement in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy.
“Despite the heavy schedule, for me, it’s still about trying to get as many points under our belt as we possibly can before Christmas.”
Coventry arrive in E10 in the drop zone, but Slade is sure they will get over their poor start – although he is determined that doesn’t begin until after Saturday.
He added: “There’s no doubt that Coventry are a big club in League One and if you look at their squad on paper, you know it’s going to come good for them sooner or later.
“We just have to make sure that’s after this weekend and we get the result we need.”
