Leyton Orient U18 2 – 3 Dagenham & Redbridge U18
FL Youth Alliance SE Conference
TWO goals in the closing stages weren’t enough to save the young O’s from defeat against Dagenham & Redbridge last weekend.
Affy Obafemi and Andys Nikolaou were on target for the home side, but with Dagenham already enjoying a 3-0 lead, they were able to hold on for victory.
Dagenham, like the O’s, are flying high in the Football League Youth Alliance South East Conference this season and they moved into the lead on 28 minutes with Jon Nouble the goalscorer.
Nouble doubled both his and the Daggers’ tally seven minutes later to give the O’s a mountain to climb after the break.
Their task got even harder three minutes after the restart when Nouble was brought down inside the box and Tim Monsheju converted from the spot.
Orient looked out of the contest, and although they gave themselves hope with two goals from corners late on – Obefemi notching yet another goal before Nikolaou’s header made it 3-2 – it was a case of too little, too late.
Orient: Charlie Grainger; De’Reece Vanderhyde, Alex Finney (Josh Uzun 55), Sean Grace, Andys Nikolaou; Rob Nash, Harry Lee (Lawson Okimeji 65); George Wickings, Harrison Georgiou (Sinclaire Sandy 65), Joe Foley; Affy Obafemi
