PORTSMOUTH boss Guy Whittingham says his side are ready to end their 489-minute wait for a goal when they play host to the O’s at Fratton Park on Tuesday night.

The South Coast club have lost six in a row to slump to 19th in the npower League 1 table but Whittingham says he has the players to turn their fortunes around.

He told their official website: “We haven’t scored for a few games and you need players on the pitch who are going to create goals and score them.

“We’ve got that with Scott [Allan], while we’ve brought in Nathaniel Mendez-Laing who can create things.

“We’ll go into the game looking to win it. We’re not trying to stop the slump by picking up a point – we want to win.”

Portsmouth added to their squad this week with the signing of experienced Portuguese centre back Ricardo Rocha, who is likely to be on their bench.

Striker Scott Allan is back from suspension, but Lee Williamson is an injury doubt.
