SLADE: 'They Adapted Better'

ORIENT boss Russell Slade suffered a New Year’s Day to forget as his side were soundly beaten at his former club Yeovil Town.
Paddy Madden scored twice whilst his strike partner James Hayter was also on target to give the Glovers a comfortable 3-0 win.
After the game the O’s manager conceded his team didn’t deserve anything for their performance.
He said: “It certainly wasn’t the start to the year we wanted.
“I don’t think we set our stall out well enough in the early stages, they started much the better side and adapted to the conditions better than we did.
“You have to make a note of the pitch, it’s the worst surface I’ve seen in League 1 for years to be honest, but fair play to Yeovil, they adapted to it well.
“Their back four headed it and kicked it. They hooked the ball on, they got in behind us. They were exceptionally direct and it was effective.”
Orient will have a swift chance to exact revenge on the Glovers, as after Saturday’s FA Cup trip to Hull, Yeovil visit E10 in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy next Tuesday.
Slade continued: “It’s a cup and an opportunity to get to the Southern Area final, with an opportunity of playing at Wembley to follow.
“It’s at our place and let’s hope we can play a lot better than we did today.”
Orient were without top scorer Kevin Lisbie for this trip to Yeovil and Slade hopes he will make a swift return from a shoulder problem.
He added: “Of course you miss Kev when he’s not in the side. He’s had an injection in his shoulder and we need that to settle down. Hopefully it will do for the weekend coming up.”
