Russell Slade could not hide his disappointment after his side were knocked out of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy in dramatic fashion but has insisted that despite the blow his side will bounce back for the season’s run in.
He said: “It’s sport, it’s football, there’s one winner and one loser. You don’t want to be a loser and it’s hard to take and will take a bit of getting over but we’ve got to show some character and we’ve got to bounce back.
“It’ll be hard but that’s my job and we can turn it around. It was a big thing tonight for both clubs and we desperately wanted to get there, there’s no point hiding that.
“It’s all about inches as I’ve said before and we came up short in the end. I didn’t see that happening, I have to say. We were 2-1 up and to be honest I thought we were the side that looked like scoring.
“We got the first goal which was terrific and that settled us down and the momentum was with us, they didn’t cause us too many problems at all in the first period and to be fair throughout the game but you have got to be ruthless in both boxes.”
