SLADE: 'The Mood Is Good'

RUSSELL SLADE is insisting his side will not take their foot off the gas in the season’s run in and wants them to finish as high as they possibly can.
Last week was a much needed good one for the club as the O’s picked up four point from two games against teams challenging for promotion and Slade believes the win against Bournemouth especially, has given everyone a lift.
He said: “The mood has been good. Obviously when you get a win it’s pleasing and the boys have gone about their business in a really good way over the last few days so we’re looking forward to playing again.
“We want to finish as high as we possibly can, that’s the only target now and win as many games as we can.
“When you get down to the last ten or 11 games they all count, it’s a rush with everybody to get as many points as possible. Notts County will feel the same and they’ll be thinking if they can put a really good run together then maybe they can nick that last slot in the play-offs.”
The O’s picked up all three points against the Magpies back in January but Slade is expecting a difficult match and has admitted he has a few injury problems to deal with.
“It’ll be a difficult game because the pitch at Meadow Lane is very poor at the minute and it won’t be conducive to great football at times,” he said.
“We have got problems injury-wise, but we’re going to have to take that on the chin and put the best possible side out that we can.”
Meanwhile with Anthony Griffith joining Port Vale this week on loan until the end of the season, the manager admitted it is unlikely someone will be joining the club to fill the space left by the midfielder.
He said: “It’s unlikely at the minute.  We’ve got four very capable midfielders and Griff [Anthony Griffith] wasn’t getting enough pitch time, so we thought it was wise for him to go out and get some football and it’ll be great for him to get some minutes under his belt.”
