ORIENT Assistant Manager Kevin Nugent was full of praise for his squad ahead of the O’s trip to Preston North End.
A run that has seen them pick up 14 points from their last six games has put the club back within touching distance of the play-offs and Nugent credited the way that the squad has bounced back after the heartbreak of the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy exit to Southend last month that was sandwiched between disappointing league defeats to Hartlepool and Crawley.
He said: “We had a bad week a few weeks ago but we’ve bounced back from that and we’re just enjoying our football at the minute and we’ll see what comes of that.
“The attitude has been fantastic and on Saturday against Carlisle we were ruthless in the box as well. We’ve played better than that and not won games so it was pleasing to take our chances.
“We’ve got four good strikers and they can all play together and in different systems as well so it’s a good balance at the moment.
“This group of players is a really honest group with a lot of ability in it as well and the thing we need to do more than anything else is keep focussed.
“We know it’s a really tight league and all we can do is concentrate on the here and now.”
Preston are the hosts on Saturday and despite lying 14 points below the O’s in the table, Nugent is wary of the challenge they pose.
“Simon Grayson is a very good manager, his teams are always really organised, well drilled and they always difficult to break-down but they have a bit of flair as well. It’ll be a very tough game, he’s really got them going and they’re at home as well so it’ll be a tough,” he said.
