ORIENT Assistant Manager Kevin Nugent was pleased to escape Deepdale with a point after his side dug out a draw in a gritty League One fixture in bitterly cold conditions.
He said: “We’ll take the point, it wasn’t one of our best performances but we dug a result out in difficult conditions so we are happy with a point.
“We didn’t really get out passing game going and it was difficult out there to be honest so we had to be quite resilient in defence to try and get a point.
“You want to win every game but you can’t do that so the positive was that we weren’t at our best but we still ground out a point today.”
One sour point for the O’s was the departure of Scott Cuthbert with a foot injury in the second half and Nugent admitted the defender could be set for a spell on the sidelines.
“Scott Cuthbert will probably have an x-ray on his foot and we’ll we have a look at that but obviously Elliot [Omozusi] has come in and done very well again and all the centre-backs and the goalkeeper were excellent today,” he added.
As well as Omozusi getting more minutes under his belt, Nugent is also hopeful that Mathieu Baudry could return for the trip to Scunthorpe on Friday.
“We will wait and see on Mat Baudry, he came up and travelled with us so we did a bit of work on him so hopefully he might be available but as I said don’t forget Elliot came on and did very well too,” he said.
