ORIENT have offered one-year professional contracts to second year scholars De’Reece Vanderhyde and Harry Lee.
The pair have been on the bench for Russell Slade’s side in recent weeks and will now be full members of the first team squad next season.
O’s Youth Team manager Andy Edwards was full of praise for the pair, “I would like to congratulate both players, they deserve the opportunity that they have been presented with. It is a reward and testimony to all the hard work that they have put in over the last two years,” he said.
“They are players with obvious ability and this paired with their character and determination will give them a platform to progress. They both now need to reflect on their achievements before focussing on pre-season and the challenges that lie ahead.”
Orient manager Russell Slade said: “I’m pleased to see these lads come through, they are good characters and they’ve impressed us this season. Full credit to Andy Edwards for his part in their development, the Youth Team have had a very good season.”
The O’s have also released Joe Foley, Sean Grace, Afolabi Obafemi and George Wickings, whilst Harrison Georgiou has been invited back to do pre-season with a view to earning a longer contract.
Edwards also thanked the players who had been released, “I would also like to place on record my best wishes to the players that have not been offered contracts and thank them for their contributions. We will of course be here to support and advise them as they potentially look to further their careers elsewhere,” he said.
