ORIENT manager Russell Slade has praised defender Scott Cuthbert after the Scotsman pledged his future to the club by signing a new two-year contract with the O’s.
The signature means that much of this season’s defensive unit will remain in place for next season and for Slade this is a massive positive.
He said: “I’m really happy that Scott has signed because when you think we still have Nathan Clarke and Mathieu Baudry and the likes of Gary Sawyer, Jamie Jones and others, I’m really happy with how we are shaping up defensively.
“We’ve made a rapid improvement over the last season defensively and that comes down to those personnel so to have them in place already for next season is massive for us and something that we didn’t have a year ago.
“Scott is a fantastic type of character too, he’s great in the changing room and he’ll stick his head in where others won’t and gives his lot for the football club. He loves it here and wants to be part of the club moving forwards which is great.”
