Best friends Mark Wright and Arg (aka Marg) are set to take part in a celebrity football match on Sunday (12th May) at Leyton Orient Football Club, E10, in aid of Haven House, their local children’s hospice in Woodford Green.
The event is to commemorate ten years of Haven House Children’s Hospice and is in memory of John Docker, a footballer who played for Barnet FC and Enfield, who died last May from a heart attack at the age of 51.
James ‘Arg’ Argent will captain an all star celebrity side, which will be playing a team of Tottenham Hotspur Legends including Mark Falco, Teddy Sheringham, Tony Galvin and Darren Anderton.
Other famous faces will include, Brit actor Tamer Hassan, So Solid’s MC Harvey and singers Mike and Darren from The Overtones. It looks like being a Wright family affair as brother Josh (who currently plays for Millwall) will also be playing and dad Mark Wright Senior, will be managing the team.
Arg’s TOWIE co-stars will include Tom Kilbey and James Bennewith (Diags). They will be joined by Funky Mojoe promoter Jamie Reed and resident DJ Darrel Privet.
The events start at 1pm (kick-off at 2pm) at Leyton Orient Ground (Matchroom Stadium), Brisbane Road, Leyton, London E10 5NF.
Speaking about his role as captain, Arg said; ‘I jumped at the chance to play in this match and am proud to be team captain, it looks like being a great day and will hopefully raise lots of money for Haven house, a local cause that I’m really passionate about.’
Mike Palfreman, Chief Executive of the Woodford Green hospice said; ‘We are delighted to have so many high profile celebrities signed up to the team and we’re sure that their support will help to generate really strong ticket sales.’
Mike continues; ‘All money raised from the event will help to support our vital work with local life-limited children and families in this our 10th birthday year.’
Since 2003, Haven House Children’s Hospice has been providing specialist care for children and young people (birth-19) who have life-limiting conditions and who are unlikely to reach adulthood.
We also provide a range of support to families; including day, short break and end-of-life care, as well a number of services designed to improve emotional wellbeing, both in the hospice and in the local community.
