Name: Chelmsford City FC
Ground: Melbourne Stadium
League: Blue Square Bet Conference South
Manager: Dean Holdsworth
One to watch: Justin Miller is likely to be remembered by most O’s fans having made over 150 appearances for Orient from 2003 to 2007 before being released. The 32-year-old centre back has a vast amount of experience, with the South African having made over 300 appearances during his time in England. Miller has made 57 appearances so far for Chelmsford and will be keen to put on a good show as he takes on his former employers.
Form: Now led by former Wimbledon striker Dean Holdsworth, the Clarets will be aiming for promotion from the Conference South this season having failed at the play-off stage in four of the past five seasons. Having finished last season in 5th place, Chelmsford were unable to protect a 1-0 advantage they took into their semi-final second leg at Salisbury City, as the hosts won 2-0 to advance to the final and end the Clarets’ hopes of promotion.
Last season saw the club reach the second round of the FA Cup for the third year in a row, defeating Essex rivals and League One side Colchester United along the way. Having replaced former manager Glenn Pennyfather, new manager Holdsworth will be hoping to go one better than his predecessor by guiding his new club into the Conference Premier, with Orient likely to represent a step-up in quality for his players in the upcoming friendly encounter.
