LEYTON ORIENT manager Russell Slade has been nominated for the Sky Bet League 1 Manager Of The Month award for August, whilst midfielder Romain Vincelot has also been nominated for the Player Of The Month prize.
The O’s boss Slade, guided the Club to their best ever start to a season with five wins out of five as his side scored 13 goals and conceded just two in the process to leave them top of the table at the turn of the month.
Slade also picked up the award in March and has seen his side carry forward the momentum that they gathered at the back-end of last season into the new campaign.
Vincelot too was nominated for the Player Of The Month prize in April after a fine spell at centre back, but will be keen to go one further after missing out on that occasion.
The French midfielder, who signed a new three-year contract in the summer, has been ever-present in the heart of the O’s midfielder and caught the eye with a number of determined and gutsy performances.
The winners will be announced on Friday morning and the full list of nominations are below.
August Manager Of The Month Nominations
Darren Ferguson (Peterborough)
Has instilled his side’s usual swagger in League 1, particularly on the road with eye-catching performances at Notts County (4-2) and Tranmere (5-0). Four wins out of five built the platform for another promotion bid.
Kenny Jackett (Wolverhampton Wanderers)
Brought his usual calm assurance to Molyneux, inspiring four successive wins to follow an opening day draw at Preston. Has players and supporters together once more with his team committed and full of attacking ideas.
Steven Pressley (Coventry City)
With a 10-point deduction imposed on the eve of the season, the Scot preached positive thoughts, creating an entertaining side in August with 16 goals scored and all but two of the 10 points wiped out.
Russell Slade (Leyton Orient)
A perfect August with five wins out of five, three away from home, maintained last season’s springtime momentum. Has his side playing with style, confidence and attacking flair, with 13 goals scored and just two conceded.
August Player Of The Month Nominations
Magnus Okuonghae (Colchester United) – central defender
A key figure in Colchester’s solid start. Strong and physically imposing at the heart of the U’s defence which conceded just four goals in five games, he also impressed with his ability to play the ball out from the back.
Romain Vincelot (Leyton Orient) – midfielder
The rock upon which Orient’s impeccable start has been founded. Restored to a midfield role, the Frenchman’s positional play, tackling, ball-carrying and distribution were all pivotal to his team’s attacking thrust in August.
Nakhi Wells (Bradford City) – striker
Made an effortless step up in class following promotion with five goals in as many matches. Returned from the summer fit and hungry, linking up with James Hanson and scoring impudently from a tight-angle against Carlisle.
Callum Wilson (Coventry City) – striker
Given a belated first-team chance at 21, the club’s academy product responded with six goals in five games. His natural pace and muscular style was supplemented with assured finishes against Bristol City, Preston and Shrewsbury.
