The forward is an ambassador for the first ever Hoops Aid – a fundraising event for the charity Sports Trader – at the Copper Box Stadium in the Olympic Park this Sunday (14th).
Hoops Aid is proposed to take place every two years – on the alternate year to Soccer Aid and Sport Relief – and focuses on promoting disability sport and getting young people in London more involved with community sport.
The event will see celebrities, sporting personalities and professional basketball players past and present coming together to take part in an all-star basketball game. There will also be an exhibition wheelchair match involving Battle Back soldiers who will be attempting the Hoops Aid challenge.
Former Millwall man Batt is looking forward to the event and raising some much-need money for the charity.
“It’s a charity basketball match aimed at keeping young people around London off the street and getting them into community sports. Just keeping them away from crime and keeping them away from trouble,” he said.
“I’ve been asked to get on board with it and be involved to help support the cause. Hopefully there will be a good turnout and it will be a good day.
“Hopefully there will be a full house at the Copper Box and everyone can have a great day and raise some money for charity.”
Doors will open at midday on Sunday with non-stop action throughout the day. In addition to the all-star game there will be a live performance from rapper EckSell, a slam dunk competition, a basketball tricks display and much more.
