On Tuesday 1 October, club sponsors and businesses from the community and across London descended on the Olympic Suite at the Matchroom Stadium for the first ever Orient Business Networking Event which had Leyton Orient Football Club Chairman, Barry Hearn as guest speaker.
Hearn spoke about business topics relating to Orient including man management skills, work ethics, the legacy of the Olympics on East London and how local businesses can benefit from reciprocal partnerships with the football club that is at the heart of the local community.
Commercial Manager Tom Jeffes commented, “We were absolutely delighted with the turnout from the business community and shows there is a real appetite in the area to network and support each other.
Following on from the success of the first event, we are looking forward to the next one in early November and would welcome any new businesses who want to come along and enjoy some relaxed, informal networking with us.”
Mark Rusling, Cabinet Member for Business at Waltham Forest Council speaking after the first event said, “Absoultely superb, packed room, cracking breakfast, Orient are still top of the table and it’s absolutely fantastic to see Orient supporting local businesses. I see this as being the business arm of the SCORE centre (part of the Leyton Orient Community Sports Programme) so we are very pleased to be working with Orient Business and hopefully this will continue for years to come.”
Dan Hyde, Partner of Westleton Drake attended the breakfast and said, “It’s great to see so many businesses here from the local community and representation from the city too. People here are interested in seeing how they can help the football club, how we as businesses can help each other and how they can take advantage of the fantastic facilities here.”
Following on from the successful first event, the next networking event is an evening of wine and canapes and will be held on Wednesday 6 November 2013. You can find out more details or book your place now via the link here.
