THERE was double cause for celebration on Saturday for the O’s after they returned to the top of the League 1 table and also ended the month top of the Football League rankings for Movember.
At the time of writing, the O’s have raised £2,140 for the charity whilst Orient Chief Executive Matt Porter has confirmed the Club will add a further £1,860 to take the total up to £4,000 which is a phenomenal effort.
Jake Larkins, Jack Sherratt, David Mooney, Shaun Batt, Scott Cuthbert and Nathan Clarke all grew moustaches for the month and are photographed above with Orient fan Stuart Minchin who donated £1,000 to the cause through his company First Class Facilities Management.
Orient skipper Nathan Clarke was delighted with the efforts of the fans who have dug deep to raise the cash: “We’re chuffed to bits with the total raised. The fans have been superb with their support for us this season and this just underlines it. Thanks to everyone who donated, hopefully this money will change a few lives.”
Meanwhile Jonathan Sim, the Communities Manager for Movember re-iterated the praise for the efforts of the Club and fans: “The O’s fundraising feats for Movember have matched performances on the pitch this season. We’re thrilled that Leyton Orient are top of the table in League One and in our Football League network of supporters.”
Throughout the month of November we offered anyone that donated the chance to win exclusive signed goodies including match-worn shirts and we’ll be contacting the lucky winners who will be picked at random by email.
