The six hopefuls will undergo a series of scientifically controlled human-performance tests, using the latest cutting edge technology at GSK’s world-class Human Performance Lab in Brentford, London [on Friday April 4].
This year’s Samsung’s Win A Pro Contract competition attracted a record-breaking 5,700 entries from amateur players across the UK- all chasing the dream of turning professional at either Swindon Town FC, Leyton Orient FC or Wycombe Wanderers FC.
After battling through rounds of skills trials and matches, the six players will now be following in the footsteps of elite athletes such as Triathlon’s Brownlee brothers, professional rugby players from Harlequins, and professional footballers from Brentford FC, when they are assessed at the GSK Human Performance Lab.
The players will be put through a series of tests that will provide valuable insight into the physiological and cognitive capabilities of each of the hopefuls.
GSK Human Performance Lab scientists will provide a detailed performance analysis to Swindon Town manager Mark Cooper, Leyton Orient boss Russell Slade and Wycombe Wanderers manager Gareth Ainsworth, to help them select their eventual winners.
Mark Langley, GSK Human Performance Lab General Manager, said: “It’s great to be working with Samsung and these young players. Our science team will give the three managers an in-depth understanding of the physiological and cognitive performance of each player, but more importantly, what can drive and improve their performance.”
The GSK Human Performance Lab session will be filmed and shown on Sky Sports as part of Samsung’s Win A Pro Contract documentary.
