Ever dreamt of playing on a professional football club’s pitch then lifting silverware in front of thousands of cheering fans? Well now you have the chance with this fantastic opportunity, while at the same time you will be helping Prostate Cancer UK by joining together and fundraising to help beat one of the UK’s biggest man killers in a special six-a-side tournament this May.
As the Football League’s Charity Partner, Prostate Cancer UK will be supporting special tournaments at stadiums up and down the country, with the Matchroom Stadium in East London hosting the South East region tournament on Saturday 24 May, with teams competing for the Men United Cup.
As part of the national Men United campaign, which has seen celebrity endorsements from comedian Bill Bailey, the tournaments will enable teams to play on a professional football club’s pitch while raising funds for the charity.
There are some great prizes on offer too as not only will the winning side pick up the Men United Cup, but they will also have the opportunity to be presented at a game in front of the crowd at their chosen Football League club in the region* as well as some other great rewards.
The day will see further fun activities for the family as well as guest appearances from some familiar faces from the football world.
Mark Bishop, Director of Fundraising at Prostate Cancer UK, said: “We have the ability to make dreams come true and this a great opportunity for fans to follow in their heroes’ footsteps and play on hallowed turf.
“As well as an amazing experience for those who take part, the funds raised will help men and their families affected by prostate cancer.
“These special days are part of a bigger partnership between Prostate Cancer UK and The Football League as we call upon all men across the country to join Men United in the fight against a common rival.”
All proceeds from the tournament will go to Prostate Cancer UK and further enquiries should be made to Rob Noble at Leyton Orient Football Club via [email protected]
