Thousands of Orient fans had a memorable day at Wembley Stadium on Sunday, despite the outcome, but for one very lucky young O’s fan, it was extra special after winning a Theo’s Gang competition to be the mascot for the day.
Having arrived at Wembley Stadium, Bryn was treated to a look behind the scenes as he went pitchside, had photos in the dugout, met the Orient mascot Theo and went into the press conference room which has been graced by the world’s top sports stars. He also paid a visit to the referee’s room before visiting the O’s home team dressing room to see the players pre-match for some autographs.
Bryn said, “The highlight of the whole day was walking out with the team in front of all those people. My legs were shaking standing on the pitch and I couldn’t keep up with Nathan Clarke when they were doing the handshakes!”
Bryn’s Dad, Andy, commented, “Thanks to everyone at Leyton Orient for giving Bryn such a great experience. The opportunity to go and meet the players in the changing room an hour before kick-off was amazing and the care and attention that Ada (LOFC Kit Manager) and the players gave to us was incredible.”
“Nathan (Clarke) was showing the dignitaries down the line and Bryn was left standing next to Jamie Jones, Bryn said his legs were shaking and Jamie asked him if he was ok which, was a great gesture.”
“There were tears on the way back to Wembley Park but he soon got over it! We are now looking forward to the new season and I am going to get his replica shirt framed with a photo from the day so he has something to keep and remember the day by.”
