100 Years On...We Will Remember Them

It would change the world forever and as a Club we remain extremely proud of the contribution our predecessors made.
The O’s, known as Clapton Orient in 1914, were the first full English squad to volunteer, with 41 players, officials and supporters signing joining the army in December 1914.
Three never returned with Richard McFadden, William Jonas and George Scott all losing their life, whilst many more were wounded.
100 years on we continue to ensure their memory survives and we will be forever indebted for the sacrifice they made and the bravery they showed.
ITV recently produced two reports on the Clapton Orient heroes and they can be found below.
Part 1 tells the story of the Club’s involvement in the War here
Part 2 shows how our heroes are still remembered by O’s fans who journey to the Somme to remember them along with the families of the fallen three. Click here
