Northampton 1-2 Orient 19.8.14
Andy Edwards’ side got back to winning ways with an impressive 2-1 win at Northampton Town.
In what was an even opening period, the O’s enjoyed a large amount of possession and won some set pieces in good areas but the first good chance fell to the home side with 15 minutes gone when they squandered a good opportunity to break the deadlock.
With 30 minutes gone though Orient grabbed the lead. Sam Ling headed a long, diagonal ball into the path of Scott Kashket who showed great composure to control and provide a cool finish to round the goalkeeper and slot home from a tricky angle.
The second period saw the Cobblers look to take control of the game and they found a way back into it not long into the half. A long ball forwards beat the Orient back four and allowed the home side forward to nip in and level the tie.
The game looked like it was destined to end a draw as Kashket and Freddy Moncur were denied before the home side hit the post until Orient snatched three points in dramatic fashion.
Christian Owusu did well to find the overlapping Sandro Semedo on the overlap and the youngster looked as if he would cut the ball back across goal before he unleashed a terrific shot hard and high into the net to win it.
