Holiday Programme Gets Surprise Visitors

access_time 7 years ago

During the recent school holiday break, the Score Leisure Centre hosted children from across the borough as part of Waltham Forest’s Summer Daze sports programme.

With over 40 schools taking part in the ‘Schools Open for Summer’ scheme, Leyton Orient Trust provided a daily variety of multi-sports to keep hundreds of young children busy over the holiday period.

And as a surprise for the already excited youngsters, players from the O’s first team squad would pop in unexpectedly each week to join in with activities, pose for photos, sign autographs and answer any questions in an impromptu question and answer session.

Mathieu Baudry, Bradley Pritchard, Elliot Omozusi, Scott Cuthbert and Lloyd James were all subject to being swamped by eager youngsters clambering for an autograph on their t-shirts or trainers and having to deal with some difficult questions, like the one posed to Mathieu Baudry; “How did you feel when you missed that penalty at Wembley?!” Oops!

Lee Faint, Lead Coach on the programme said, “It’s always a pleasure to see the players, both for the children and the staff. They are always relaxed and accommodating and chat to us all. The children love getting the autographs and we’d like to thank them for their continued support.”

And new midfielder Bradley Pritchard commented, “It’s nice to get my first community visit done. The kids were great and really excited. I’m looking forward to the future with Orient and getting out and about in the local community is all part of the package.”
