Leyton Orient joined the Mayor of London and representatives from the other professional clubs to help launch the London Health Commissions report on improving the health of all Londoners.

The Commission in particular have recognized that Leyton Orient and the other London’s professional football clubs and their community schemes have a huge influence over the city’s people and as such should work together to improve physical activity levels. In return the clubs have offered incentives and challenges between sets of fans to promote healthy lifestyles, improving London as a whole.

The Commission also recognized that London could also do more to harness the benefits of its unusually large amount of green space, not only by curbing unhealthy activities in parks, such as smoking, but using them as a natural rallying point – as already happens informally and at a more local level – for healthy activity.

Neil Taylor CEO of Leyton Orient Trust said:

‘We are delighted to support and play our part in improving the health of Londoners through our campaigns and activities. We look forward to working closer with the other London Clubs and the Mayor on making a real difference.’
