Orient head into another important game tomorrow when they visit fellow strugglers Crawley Town, and boss Fabio Liverani has confidence that his team can build on two impressive performances.
The O’s beat bottom side Yeovil Town 3-0 last weekend with Chris Dagnall, Ryan Hedges and Jobi McAnuff on target, and followed it up with another good showing in the goalless draw with in-form Barnsley on Tuesday.
And the manager is keen to add to that with what would be a crucial three points in Sussex tomorrow.
“The last game against Barnsley was a good performance from the players,” said Liverani. “It was a good match for me with the intensity, aggression and good quality. The only disappointment was the final score.
“Crawley is another big game for us. It is another six pointer and it is important, but I have confidence in my team because they go into it on the back of a good couple of performances in the recent matches.”
While the O’s have continued to pick up points of late in their battle to avoid relegation, others around them in the League One table have also shown some good form, none more so than tomorrow’s opponents who have won their last two games.
But that doesn’t worry Liverani, and he added: “The only table that matters for me is on May 3 when the season is finished. We need to continue to work hard on the pitch.
“The relationship with the players now is better and it has taken time for them to get to know me and for me to get to know them. They feel positive and the team is much more confident on the pitch.”
There were no new injury concerns for the O’s boss after Thursday’s training session, with Mathieu Baudry still a doubt after coming off late on in last weekend’s win over Yeovil Town.
