O’s mascot on Saturday was somebody you wouldn’t exactly expect to be walking out alongside skipper Scott Cuthbert.
The mascot package is usually taken up by a youngster, who looks up to the players.
However it was ever so slightly different at the weekend when Roy Williams was handed the honour of leading the O’s out as a 60th birthday present from his family.
Son, Joe Williams, took to Twitter before the game, saying: “@leytonorientfc shoutout to my Dad Roy Williams who is Orient Mascot today for his 60th! Hoping he will bring us some luck & valuable 3 pts.”
And that he certainly did as the O’s picked up a vital 3-1 win over Port Vale in their battle to avoid relegation. The Sun, The Daily Mirror and The Telegraph all picked up on Roy’s special occasion as well
Everyone at the club would like to pass on their belated birthday wishes to Roy and hope he enjoyed his day.
