Leyton Orient Trust’s popular Theo’s Soccer Skills Centre hosted an extra special session on the pitch at the Matchroom Stadium on Thursday, May 28.
There was the chance for boys and girls between the age of five and 12 to take part in organised games on the pitch before receiving a medal and certificate to commemorate the day presented by Theo himself!
Although the weather was unpredictable it turned out to be a fine day and parents and friends were also allowed to stay and watch as over 60 young O’s fans enjoyed the experience of playing on the same pitch as their heroes.
And it was a treat to see so many O’s shirts amongst the variety on show.
Joshua Antonio, lead coach on the day, said: “It was a pleasure for us to host this football fun day and especially as we were able to use the Orient stadium.
“I know the kids got a big thrill running around on the pitch but the staff also had a great time being able to work in such great surroundings. We’d like to thank the club for being able to come over and hope we can repeat it again in the future.”
And Howard Gould, Community Liaison Officer, commented: “It’s events such as these that just go to show how close the relationship between the Club and Trust has grown over the past few years.
“We pride ourselves on having one of the best community programmes in the country and are known as a family-friendly club and days like today, for our younger supporters especially, just epitomise that.”
Theo’s Soccer Skills Centre usually takes place every Wednesday (4.30pm – 5.30pm – £5) and Saturday (9.30am – 11am – £7) at the Score Centre on Oliver Road. There is no booking necessary and full details can be found on the website www.leytonorient.com
