Ever dreamed of pulling on the shirt of the mighty Orient and representing the club in a match? Well now you can…
If you are over 50 and enjoy football, then this is the opportunity for you. Walking football is the latest sport to take the UK by storm and Leyton Orient are leading the way after being invited to attend the inaugural Football League Trust Walking Football Tournament this month.
The tournament is being hosted by Luton Town on Friday 19th June and will see teams from across the South East compete against each other for the chance to play in the national finals day at St George’s Park in July.
Walking football follows the same rules as normal football except you cannot run and you cannot slide tackle. Many professional clubs use this method in training to teach their players to be comfortable on the ball and it has more recently been promoted by the NHS as a great way to keep fit and make new friends for all ages.
The tournament will be in a five a side format so we are looking for seven players (male or female) to represent the club at this event on Friday 19th July between 1pm and 4pm.
This is a free event and Leyton Orient Trust will also be putting on free transport to and from the SCORE Centre to the venue in Luton on this day. Kit will also be provided for the day but you will need to bring your own shin pads and trainers or astro turf boots/shoes (no metal studs are allowed). We will be meeting at the SCORE centre at 11.00am on this day so you may also want to bring lunch.
If you are over 50 and are interested in representing the club in this inaugural tournament, please get in touch with Phill Smith via email: [email protected] or via phone: 020 8556 5973 by 16th June to confirm your place.
