O’s head coach Ian Hendon believed today’s pre-season encounter with Huddersfield Town was a good workout for his side.
A first half strike from Joe Lolley and an own goal in the second half saw the O’s lose out 2-0, but having tried a number of different formation and shapes over the course of the training camp in Spain, Hendon was content with what he learned from the encounter with a Championship side.
“It was another good exercise for us and despite kicking off early it was still reasonably hot,” Hendon told leytonorient.com
“Huddersfield had that little bit of extra quality and their goal in the first half showed that. We tried a different shape and formation in each half of the match and I was pleased with what we have learned from the game. We have not picked up any injuries as well during the camp, which is good, and that has enabled us to work to our maximum.”
“We will feel the benefit of the training camp when we get back from the tour and play our remaining friendlies before the season opener on August 8.”
The O’s will return to the UK on Monday before facing League One side Colchester United at the Weston Homes Community Stadium on Saturday, July 25 (3pm kick-off).
