REACTION: Turgott pleased to grind out Newport win

Orient winger Blair Turgott was pleased to come away with the win at Newport on Saturday, but knows they didn’t play to the best of their ability.

They looked on course for victory when Paul McCallum and Jay Simpson netted to give them a 2-0 lead, before a late first half comeback saw the scores level at the break.

Turgott came off the bench in the second half and once again made an impact, creating the chance for Dean Cox to score the winner.

And while admitting their performance was below-par, Turgott believe the O’s showed plenty of character to grind out the win.
