Leyton Orient can confirm midfielder Jack Payne has joined the Club on a season long loan, with a view to a permanent deal, subject to Football League approval.
The 23-year-old joins the Club from Peterborough and has been a long-term target for Head Coach Ian Hendon, having taken Payne with the O’s squad on their pre-season tour to Spain in July.
And Hendon was delighted to finally complete the signing of Payne.
“It has been a long drawn out process but we are pleased to get a deal done which sees Jack come in on loan with a view to a permanent deal,” Hendon told leytonorient.com.
“I cannot thank the President enough as he has backed me yet again with this deal and we are looking forward to working with Jack.
“Jack needs a bit of work to get up to speed with the rest of the squad having not had much game time yet this season, but he will be a good addition to the squad.”
Payne joins the O’s having played 90 games for Peterborough after joining for an undisclosed fee from Gillingham in June 2013 on a four-year deal.
He captained the side last season, and featured on 45 occasions, but was placed on transfer list at the end of the campaign.
Payne will wear the shirt number 12 during his time in E10, and is available for selection for tonight’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy game at Luton Town.
