PREVIEW: Exeter City v Orient

access_time 6 years ago

Leyton Orient head to Exeter City tomorrow looking to extend their unbeaten start to the League Two season.

The O’s have won all five of their previous encounters in the league, but go into the game on the back of a 2-1 Johnstone’s Paint Trophy defeat on Tuesday at Luton Town.

With that unblemished record, Head Coach Ian Hendon and midfielder Dean Cox won Manager and Player of the Month awards in League Two respectively, and they will hoping their good form continues.

Exeter City head into the game in 13th place, winning two, drawing one and losing twice so far this season.

Last time out in the league they lost 2-1 to AFC Wimbledon. Ryan Harley had levelled for the Grecians following George Francomb’s opener for Neal Ardley’s side. But former O’s loanee Adebayo Azeez netted a late winner for the Dons.

On Tuesday they saw off the challenge of Portsmouth 2-0 in the Johnstone’s Paint Trophy, with goals from Harley and Alex Nicholls.

The O’s slipped to a 3-0 defeat on their last visit to St James’ Park.

They went 1-0 down after just four minutes through Jake Taylor, before a three-minute second-half double from Liam Sercombe saw the Grecians pick up the victory.

ORIENT: Jones, Ben Youssef, Dickson, Chorley, Leacock, Cox, Reed, Spring, Laird (Porter 64), Lisbie (Andrew 74), Mooney (Smith 85).

SUBS: Rachubka, Taiwo.

The O’s have a major doubt over skipper Mathieu Baudry after he hobbled off at half-time in the 2-0 win against Bristol Rovers.

Other than that, Ian Hendon has a fully-fit squad despite illness sweeping through the squad before Tuesday’s Johnstone’s Paint Trophy game at Luton Town, and can include new signing Jack Payne in his matchday squad.

For Exeter, Christian Ribeiro (groin), Arron Davies and Tom Nichols face fitness tests. Nichols and Riberio have missed the last couple of games and Davies limped off against Wimbledon.

Jordan Moore-Taylor is coming back from a broken foot and made his first appearance of the season in the 2-0 win over Portsmouth on Tuesday.
