Leyton Orient striker Paul McCallum is set to spend at least six months on the sidelines after scans confirmed cruciate ligament damage to his right knee.
The 22-year-old, who had scored three goals for the O’s in the opening few weeks of the season, picked up the injury having come on as a second half substitute in last Saturday’s 1-1 draw at Northampton Town.
“We are all devastated for Paul,” Hendon told leytonorient.com. “He has had a great start to the season for us and was showing everyone what he was capable of at this level.
“Paul will be a loss for us, but knowing the type of character he is I am confident he can come back fitter and stronger from this experience.”
