The Young O’s built on their impressive 7-0 win over Cambridge United with a 2-0 victory against Northampton Town on Saturday.
An own goal gave Orient the lead at the break, before substitute Rian McLean sealed the three points for Andy Edwards’ side.
The O’s had plenty of chances in the first half, with Victor Adeboyejo and Christian Owusu both spurning one-on-one opportunities.
However, they managed to break the deadlock on 25 minutes when great work down the left from Adeboyejo saw him a deliver a ball into the box and a Northampton defender, under the pressure of Owusu, steered the ball into the back of his own net.
That was how it remained at the break, but Orient were awarded a second half penalty. Up stepped Owusu.but he was to miss from the spot.
Northampton created very little throughout the game, and it was substitute McLean who sealed the win when his 20-yard left-footed strike nestled into the back of the net, after the O’s had gone close with a headed effort.
The hosts had been reduced to 10 men in the second period, and Arthut Janata in the Orient goal was forced to make one good save to deny the hosts a way back into the encounter.
The result saw the O’s pick up their second successive clean sheet and a league double over the Cobblers ahead of this weekend’s game where they host a Gillingham side they beat 3-1 on the opening day of the season.
