PREVIEW: Orient v Staines Town

access_time 6 years ago

Leyton Orient will be looking to make it through to the second round of the FA Cup  when they host Ryman Premier side Staines Town tomorrow.

They go into the game on the back of a 1-0 loss at home to Accrington Stanley after Josh Windass’ first half strike.

Staines Town travel to the Matchroom Stadium for the first time in their history this weekend and sit 18th in the Ryman Premier Division, winning six of  their 15 games.

They come into the game on the back of a 2-1 FA Trophy defeat at the hands of VCD Athletic last weekend.

While Orient play their first game in this season’s Emirates FA Cup, Staines arrive ready for their fifth match in the competition.

The Swans started their campaign back in September with a First Qualifying Round tie against Ryman League Division One South side Faversham Town and although they were held to a 2-2 draw at home, they progressed with a 3-1 win in the replay when  Pat Cox (2) and Jack Bennett scored.

Their reward was a trip to Eastern Counties League side Stanway Rovers, where a solitary strike from Cox was enough to book a Third Qualifying Round tie at fellow Ryman Premier side East Thurrock United and in a ninegoal thriller Staines won through 6-3 as Cox continued his scoring spree in the competition with a hat-trick, while Luke Wanadio (2) and Jack Hutchinson were also on target.

Manager Nicky Forster’s side booked their place in the First Round when they overcame Conference North side Gloucester City 2-1 at home in front of 417 fans with Cox again the marksman with a two-goal blast.

Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s match and the prices are as follows:

The West Stand and South Stand will be open for home supporters with visiting supporters being accommodated in the North Stand.

Ian Hendon will be without defender Connor Essam after the defender picked up an ankle ligament injury in the 1-0 loss to Accrington Stanley last weekend.

Bradley Pritchard also misses out having picked up his fifth booking of the season in the Accrington game, while defender Adam Chicksen returned to Brighton & Hove Albion following the end of his one-month loan.

For Staines, Mitchal Gough and  Ashley Lodge are doubts with shoulder and foot injuries respectively, while former Orient defender Joe O’Cearuill is likely to miss out with an abducter injury

Leyton Orient have been made the favourites going into the weekend, priced at 1/3 to win, while Staines are priced at 15/2 and a draw can be found at 4/1.

John Marquis spent a spell on loan with Staines earlier in his career, and is priced at 4/1 to open the scoring, while top goalscorer Jay Simpson is at 3/1. For Staines, Pat Cox is the best priced to score first at 17/2, while Luke Wanadio is priced at 11/1.
