Leyton Orient U18s shared the spoils with Peterborough after Posh came back from 2-0 down late on to secure a draw.
High winds blowing across the field were always going to cause problems, and the O’s were without Sam Sargeant and Victor Adeboyejo through who were on first-team duty, while Dan Happe, Henry Ochieng and Michael Clark all missed out. Pat Adamson, Charley Barker and Sam Roach all stepped into the team in their absence, along with U16s Teddy Perkins and Andrew Tayaca.
The effect of the wind was obvious from the beginning as high balls would find themselves dying before the half way line, but it didn’t stop Orient from controlling the first 15 minutes. Josh Koroma attempted to poke an effort past the home keeper from close but it was well saved.
It was then a tale of two free-kicks as Sam Alderson’s first strike was low but unable to find its way through a crowd of bodies, however, his second effort forced a top save from the Peterborough goalkeeper.
From the resulting corner though Orient took the lead as Aron Pollock delivered a thumping header onto the underside of the bar, which bounced on the line before Tristan Abrahams pounced for the finish.
Posh started to gain some ground and should have levelled through Deon Moore who put a free header wide.
Abrahams had a chance to double his tally right on the stroke of half time but was cleared off the line. Within 10 minutes of the restart though Aron Pollock had his well-deserved goal, towering over everyone else to deliver an unstoppable bullet header into the net.
Sam Dalby replaced Koroma, while Myles Judd also came on as Abrahams tried his luck but he saw his curling effort cleared off the line, though Dalby was unmarked in the box. simple tap in.
Tayaca was brought on to replace Pollock, who alongside Perkins had been fantastic in not allowing the opposing strikers to get a foothold in the game.
The game entered the closing stages and Posh pulled a goal back when Kweku Lueus whipped in a corner which was violently steered by the wind into the far corner despite the best efforts from Tayaca.
With the momentum from the goal, the hosts went on to force a late equaliser as the ball dropped to Moore and from close range he supplied the finish.
