Cycling Grants London is a new programme funded by Transport for London (TfL) and managed by the environmental regeneration charity, Groundwork.

It offers funding to community groups such as residents’ associations, charities and youth groups for projects that encourage people of all ages and backgrounds to cycle safely.

Over the next three years ‘Cycling is my Goal’, the new project developed by Leyton Orient Trust and in partnership with Waltham Forest Council, Cycle Confident and Mini Holland aims to work with people of all ages within the local community in Waltham Forest to improve their confidence to cycle on the roads.

Each programme will last for five weeks with sessions lasting an hour and a half. Participants will be able to take part in cycle training, get to know their area through guided rides around the borough, learn how to maintain their bikes and take part in a matchday ride (with a free match ticket) to come and support the O’s!

At the end of each weekly session there’ll also be an opportunity to take part in a fun 5 a side mini match at SCORE too. Sessions will be starting in January and will run between 2016 and 2018

‘We are delighted to have been awarded funding by Cycling Grants London to take this project forward. Cycling on the road can be extremely daunting to many – including myself!! Yet there are so many positive benefits to active travel. This project is for anyone who wants to use their bike more, whether it be those who learnt and then stopped, those who don’t feel confident on the road at present or even those that want to just familiarize themselves with borough. It’ll be great to encourage more people to actively travel and make the most of the new Mini Holland redevelopments within Waltham Forest,” said
