PREVIEW: Moore after resilient showing from Orient at Notts County

Midfielder Sammy Moore is calling for the O’s to get back to the standards they set at Portsmouth when making the trip to Notts County tomorrow.

A 1-0 win at Fratton Park was followed by a disappointing 4-0 reverse at home to league leaders Northampton Town last weekend, and while keen to take a leaf out of the Cobblers book, Moore knows they have to put together a string of impressive results between now and the end of the season to ensure a spot in the Play-Offs.

“Looking at the league is a case of one or two points either way but it shows that if you can put a run together like Northampton have you can go create a bit of a gap. We have learnt a lot from playing them,” Moore told Orient PlayerHD.

“We know it wasn’t good enough and I think you will see a different side to us tomorrow. With a great week of training under our belts we have to make sure we go there and get three points.”

He added: “People who went to the Portsmouth game will now how well-drilled we were and Portsmouth said afterwards ‘you have come here and outplayed us’.

“They probably have one of the biggest budgets and best squads in the league and if we can do it there, there is no reason why we cannot do it at places like Notts County. We have just got to find that consistency now of getting the wins each week and not letting our standards drop.”

Moore has special memories of his last encounter with the Magpies as he netted twice, one a goal of the season contender, as the O’s picked up a 3-2 home win, and while keen to replicate that, believes the O’s will have to put in plenty of hard work to come away with the victory from Meadow Lane.

“That was a good day. You have to cherish them because they don’t come around too often. That day we were brilliant at home We had a setback when they equalised but the boys showed character and kicked on,” remarked the 28-year-old.

“We have to be resilient at Notts County. We have to put the hard work in and earn the right to play  – if we do that than our quality will shine through. There is no reason why we cannot go there and get three points.”
