PREVIEW: Notts County (A)

access_time 6 years ago

Leyton Orient travel to Notts County tomorrow as they look to bounce back from last weekend’s home defeat to Northampton.

The O’s slumped to a 4-0 loss against the league leaders last Saturday, and Kevin Nolan’s side will want to put things right with an improved performance at Meadow Lane after dropping out of the Play-Off places.

Notts County currently sit 14th in League Two, but come into the tie with three wins in their previous five matches following the appointment of Jamie Fullarton as manager.

Fullarton, who replaced Ricardo Moniz as Magpies boss in January, saw his side run out 3-2 victors at Hartlepool United on Tuesday night.

Jon Stead and Liam Noble both scored early on at Victoria Park to ensure Notts County raced into a two-goal lead at the break, only to be pegged back after the hour mark when Jake Gray and Billy Paynter found the back of the net within the space of five minutes.

With time running out however Stead was to seal the victory with his second of the match, getting on the end of Noble’s corner on the 80th minute.

The sides could not be seperated when they met at Meadow Lane last season. Zeli Ismail gave the Magpies the lead from the penalty spot after 25 minutes, but O’s forward Chris Dagnall equalised with a spot kick of his own six minutes after the break to ensure a share of the spoils for Russell Slade’s side.

The O’s have no fresh injury concerns going into this weekend, but could make several changes at Meadow Lane.

First team members Connor Essam, Alan Dunne, Bradley Pritchard, Nigel Atangana, Blair Turgott and Ollie Palmer all featured in the Development League draw at home to AFC Wimbledon in the week, and all are looking to force a way into the starting XI.

Armand Gnanduillet continues to push for a first start for the O’s and midfielder Lloyd James nears closer to full fitness following an achilles injury, while duo Paul McCallum and Dean Cox have made good progress in their bid to recover from respective knee ligament injuries.
