REACTION: Hunt frustrated after Hatters defeat

access_time 6 years ago

Nicky Hunt expressed his frustration after Leyton Orient slipped to a 1-0 home defeat to Luton on Saturday  despite outplaying the Hatters for much of the match.

“For a game we dominated for a large majority, it’s frustrating for us. I don’t think we had enough going forward as we had in previous weeks,” Hunt told Orient PlayerHD.

He added: “Teams are going to come out here, want a big scalp against Leyton Orient, and we’ve got to deal with that.”

Hunt believed Luton’s goal was avoidable and his side were out of position at the goal kick, and failed to win the initial header, which went to Jack Marriott who finished with a cheeky chip over the head of Orient keeper Alex Cisak.

“It’s a great finish from him to be fair. But it could have been stopped at its source at the goal kick,” Hunt remarked.

The early goings of the game were marred by a head injury to Shaun Brisley, who momentarily lost consciousness following a collision and was stretchered off the pitch.

Hunt, who was moved from right back to centre back to replace Brisley, said he hoped his team-mate was all right, describing the incident as “a nasty clash.”

Orient sit level on points with Wimbledon for the final play-off spot in League Two, though have a worse goal difference, while Luton move just three points off the O’s.

Hunt said Orient must keep getting scrappy wins in order to make the playoffs, adding:  “We want to impress the fans with the football we play, but you can’t always do that.

“It’s always difficult at the end of the season, keeping up the wins and draws. But if we’d created some more chances, Luton wouldn’t have scored the goal and they could have crumbled.”
