Two goals in either half helped the O’s to a comfortable 4-0 Development League win over Cambridge United at the Matchroom Stadium.

Calaum Jahraldo-Martin and Scott Kashket scored in the space of three first half minutes, before second half goals from Armand Gnanduillet and substitute Sam Alderson sealed the win.

There were starts for skipper Mathieu Baudry, who is looking to force his way back into first-team reckoning after four games out through suspension, while Frazer Shaw, Jahraldo-Martin, Gnanduillet, Sammy Moore ad Blair Turgott also featured from the off.

For the U’s, there were starts for former Orient players Elliot Omozusi and Robbie Simpson, while defender Mark Roberts also started for the visitors.

The O’s dominated early on and Gnanduillet fired an early effort wide when well placed inside the box, before the Frenchman played in strike partner Kashket moments later, however, the 20-year-old blazed over from close range.

Kashket was involved again on 14 minutes when he dispossessed the ball off Danny Burns in the box, and saw a shot parried by U’s keeper Jonathan Henly straight to Gnanduillet, but the striker again was off target with his effort.

Orient turned their dominance in the opening goal on 18 minutes as a short corner from Turgott found Jahraldo-Martin on the edge of the box. The Hull loanee took a couple of touches before curling past Henly.

One soon became two as two minutes later the O’s doubled their lead as Gnanduillet pulled the ball back for Kashket who shot first time past Henly.

Facial injuries were picked by both Baudry and Aron Pollock during the opening period, and though Baudry was able to continue, Pollock was forced off just before the break, with Michael Clark his replacement.

No further changes followed at the break, but after nine minutes of the second period the hosts extended their advantage when Turgott provided the assist once again. His pin-point free-kick found Gnanduillet and the striker headed home.

Cambridge created a couple of opportunities in the second period, with the best two falling to former O Robbie Simpson, but an acrobatic effort was easily held by Sargeant, before seeing a header fall wide of the target.

The O’s added further gloss to the victory with 11 minutes to go as Turgott’s cross was only half cleared to Alderson who took a couple of touches before firing low into the bottom left corner of the net.
