Less than two weeks ago Callum Kennedy was experiencing League Two Play-Off Final joy at Wembley and the defender is eager to now replicate the promotion with the O’s.
The 26-year-old will link up with Orient when his contract runs out with AFC Wimbledon at the end of the month, and signed a one-year deal with the O’s today to become the fourth new signing of the week in E10.
Kennedy ended his time with the Dons on a high, and is now keen to build on that achievement.
“I am over the moon,” Kennedy told leytonorient.com.
“I am really excited for a new start and getting back into training. We haven’t finished that long ago but it is nice to know that it is all done now and I am looking forward to get cracking.
“As soon as you look at this league and you see Leyton Orient in there you think they are going to be up there challenging and having tasted that success a couple of weeks ago it is something I would love to do again and I don’t see any reason why we can’t.”
The left back spent three years at Kingsmeadow with the Dons, and while it represents a new challenge for Kennedy, there will be a few familiar faces for him in the shape of manager Andy Hessenthaler and midfielder Sammy Moore.
“As soon as I heard of the interest from Leyton Orient I was keen, especially having worked with the manager while I was on loan at Gillingham when I was a little bit younger.
“In my eyes it is a very big club and as soon as I heard the name, that attracted me in itself. When you add in all the other parts in terms of location and knowing some of the lads, it was extremely attractive.”
