The success of the Leyton Orient Trust’s EFL Kids & Girls Cup event last season has seen them awarded £1,000.
Last season English Football League clubs across the country hosted Kids & Girls Cup events and after must deliberation from the EFL Trust, Leyton Orient Trust picked up one of three Best Run Tournament awards.
The criteria looked at for winning the award were:
• All forms returned correctly by the deadline
• All data uploaded correctly by the deadline
• Publicity around the tournament both before and after
• Cross-club engagement, player involvement and local media involvement
Former O’s players Sam Ling and Jack Humphrey were on hand at the Trust’s event last season, which was won by Loyola Prep, who went on to represent the club at the Football League Kids Cup regional finals.
Other winners of the award were Derby County and Wigan Athletic.
On receiving the accolade, Leyton Orient Trust’s Chief Executive Neil Taylor, said: “We are delighted that ELFT and Kinder has recognised the commitment that both the Trust and Club has made over the last season in making the Kids Cup a success.
“I would in particular thank Community Liaison Officer Howard Gould for his work not just on this particular tournament, but how it is part of the overall work that he does for the Trust and the Club. The money received will be invested in making sure that this work continues.”
