PREVIEW: Orient v Charlton Athletic

access_time 5 years ago
The O’s are back at the Matchroom Stadium this afternoon for the first time this season when they take on League One outfit Charlton Athletic in a pre-season friendly.
Andy Hessenthaler’s side come into the game on the back of a 2-0 win at Woking on Tuesday, with goals from the returning Dean Cox and Paul McCallum sealing the victory as they bounced back from a disappointing loss by the same scoreline last weekend at Dover Athletic.
There will be a couple of familiar faces in the Charlton dugout this afternoon, with former O’s boss Russell Slade in charge of Addicks, and he has been joined earlier this week by Kevin Nugent.
Slade was manager of the O’s until September 2014, and spent four years at the helm, while Nugent enjoyed two spells as a player at the club, before progressing into management, holding the caretaker manager position twice and acted as interim manager for a short period of time.
Charlton come into the friendly on the back of a 1-0 victory over Maccabi Pete Tikva on Tuesday during their pre-season tour to Austria, with striker Brandon Hanlan netting the only goal of the game.
Jay Simpson, Jordan Bowery and Aron Pollock all missed out on Tuesday night’s friendly and remain doubts for today’s encounter.
Tickets for today’s game are available on the gate, priced at £10 adults, £5 concessions and £3 for under-18s.
