O’s striker Paul McCallum now feels he is ready to return to regular first-team action after netting twice after coming off the bench last night and scoring twice in the 3-2 EFL Cup defeat to Fulham.
The 23-year-old admitted he came back for pre-season behind the pace, but after working hard in recent weeks, he is now keen to get back in Andy Hessenthaler’s starting XI, after missing the opening-day draw at Cheltenham Town.
Despite being behind schedule, the striker has continued to score goals in pre-season, with one against Woking, a 90th minute winner at Dagenham & Redbridge and two at Greenwich Borough last week, and admits he feels confident in front of goal.
The striker also reserved special praise his ACL buddy Dean Cox, who laid on the assists for two goals as Orient threatened to complete the comeback having found themselves 3-0 down.
