PREVIEW: Leyton Orient v Newport County AFC

access_time 5 years ago
Leyton Orient will be aiming for to get their home league campaign off to the best possible start when they host Newport County AFC at the Matchroom Stadium.
Following last weekend’s 1-1 draw at Cheltenham Town, the O’s followed it up with a 3-2 defeat at home to Championship outfit Fulham in the EFL Cup, with substitute Paul McCalllum netting both after Orient initially fell 3-0 behind.
Newport County arrive in E10 on the back of a 3-2 EFL Cup loss to MK Dons. Marlon Jackson and Mark Randall put the Exiles 2-0 ahead, before  Dean Bowditch pulled one back from the Dons and Ben Tilney levelled matters. Just as extra-time appeared to be on the cards, Bowditch netted again to seal the victory.
Prior to that, they had also suffered a loss by the same scoreline against Mansfield Town in their season opener. This time Kevan Hurst’s late strike sealed defeat for Warren Feeney’s side.
Both Tom Parkes and Jordan Bowery are doubts for the O’s with shoulder and knee injuries respectively.
Paul McCallum, Dean Cox and Nigel Atangana are all pushing for starts having coming on against Fulham and put in positive displays in midweek.
