Orient’s Sam Alderson and Michael Clark have both headed out on loan to non-league sides to continue their development.
The duo had both signed third-year scholarships with the O’s in the summer. Clark headed out to Italy with the first team for the pre-season camp in July, playing in the 1-0 loss to Italy U19s, before featuring in Orient’s pre-season opener at Wealdstone later that month.
Clark has since linked up with National League South newcomers East Thurrock United on a similar deal and has also featured in all three of the Rocks matches so far this term.
They opened with a 1-0 home defeat to Hungerford Town on August 6 with the defender being replaced on 58 minutes.
The Rocks then went on to draw 1-1 at Hemel Hempstead three days later, before picking up their first league win of the season on Saturday with a 2-1 success at Hampton & Richmond Borough, with Clark going on to net the winner with his first senior goal.
They are due to host Welling United on Tuesday night, before welcoming Gosport Borough to Rookery Hill.
Meanwhile, Alderson has joined Evo-Stik Southern Premier side Cambridge City on an initial one-month work experience loan, which can be extended.
He has featured in all three games so far this season for the Lilywhites, which saw them start with a 2-1 defeat at Dunstable Town, where he remained on the pitch for the entire 90 minutes.
Following on from that he again started as City picked up their first point of the season in a 1-1 draw with Biggleswade Town, being replaced in stoppage time by Ali Richardson.
However, they were unable to build on that as they suffered a 3-1 defeat to Chippenham Town and Alderson featured throughout once more.
Next up for the Lilywhites is a trip to King’s Lynn Town tomorrow evening, before hosting Hayes & Yeading United on Saturday.
