PREVIEW: Leyton Orient v Portsmouth

access_time 5 years ago

Alberto Cavasin will be hoping to mark his first home game as O’s boss with victory when taking on Portsmouth tomorrow at the Matchroom Stadium.

The Italian lost out 1-0 in his first game as manager at Southend United in the Checkatrade Trophy, with Mark-Antoine Fortune’s late strike enough to give the Blues victory.

Going into the game, the O’s lie in 17th place in League Two and are after their first league win in five attempts following last weekend’s goalless draw at Barnet.

Portsmouth, managed by Paul Cook, have lost their last two league games ahead of the encounter, and last time out were defeated 2-1 at home to Doncaster Rovers.

First half goals from former O’s loanee John Marquis and Andy Williams put Donny on course for victory, before Carl Baker pulled one back for the hosts, though it proved to be in vain and now find themselves in sixth place in the league table.

Nigel Atangana will be hoping to return against his former side after missing the last two games with a recurrence of his groin/hip flexor injury.

Meanwhile, Sandro Semedo and Harry Cornick remain doubts after missing Tuesday’s Checkatrade Trophy defeat at Southend United, and Tom Parkes came off with a nose injury in the loss.

BETTING (Odds correct at time of preview)

Sky Bet make the O’s the 9/4 outsiders to claim victory at home to Portsmouth on Saturday afternoon.

Pompey are priced up by Sky Bet as the 5/4 favourites to get the three points and the draw is on offer at 23/10.

Three of the O’s last four matches in Sky Bet League Two have contained under 2.5 goals and the EFL sponsors go odds-on at 8/11 that this contest comes in below that mark (even-money that more than 2.5 goals are scored).
