O’s boss Alberto Cavasin hopes his first full week of training with the squad will pay dividends when Luton Town visit the Matchroom Stadium tomorrow.
With games against Southend and Portsmouth in his first week, the Italian had little time to work with his squad, but having no midweek fixture this time around has allowed the 60-year-old to get a solid week on the training pitch.
“No midweek fixture has enabled us to spend a full week on the training pitch and focus solely on the test Luton will give us tomorrow,” he told leytonorient.com
“All the players have worked hard throughout the week and hopefully that will pay off tomorrow. They are taking everything on board and I have been pleased with the levels of training both individually and collectively as a team.
Luton arrive in E10 tomorrow in fifth position in League Two and Cavasin is wary of the test Nathan Jones’ side will pose.
“Luton are a very good team and we will certainly not be underestimating them. Their position in the table shows how tough tomorrow’s game will be for us.
“However, I do not doubt the quality of the squad here and we are more than capable of delivering a strong performance that will give us the maximum opportunity to come away with a positive result.”
Last weekend the O’s lost out 1-0 at home to Portsmouth, making it three games without a goal in the league, and Cavasin knows they have to improve in that department if results are to improve.
“We had a couple of chances against Portsmouth but we know we are lacking in goals at the moment and that has to change,” he added.
“Unfortunately last weekend we were undone by another set piece and that has to stop as well.”
